SMX 12
SMX 12 and SMX 12A are outstanding stage monitors—and so much more. The extensive range of accessories allows for a wide variety of applications beyond classic monitoring. The core component is the SMX 12 UB, which enables stepless tilting of the SMX 12 and SMX 12A, making wall mounting, for example, possible. With the SPS20 mounting pole, SMX monitors can be quickly mounted on a subwoofer, transforming them into an ultra-portable PA system or a rapidly deployed side fill. Rigging is also possible, allowing the SMX 12 or SMX 12A to be flown as front fills, for instance.
In short, using the SMX series speakers solely as monitors is an excellent choice—but almost a waste of their potential.
The SMX 12 is a compact, extremely versatile 2-way coaxial monitor in a bass reflex design. Thanks to the built-in 12″ woofer with a powerful 3″ voice coil and a 1″ tweeter with a 1.7″ voice coil, the SMX 12 delivers punchy, assertive sound in any mix and impresses with a harmonious, neutral sound character. This allows performers to hear themselves better and bring out every nuance of their performance. The clearly audible signal, with an 80° x 80° dispersion angle, also helps to protect the voice—the better you can hear yourself, the less strain is needed when singing. The SMX 12 monitor remains straightforward and resistant to feedback in any situation.
With a power handling of 1,600 W (peak) and a maximum SPL of 136 dB (peak), the SMX 12 brings impressive power to the stage while keeping distortion across the entire frequency range from 60 Hz to 20 kHz extremely low. The high sensitivity of 99 dB enables consistent, powerful reproduction across the entire dynamic range.
SMX 12 monitors can also be used in combination with subwoofers such as the S 15 PRO for small to medium-sized events or for permanent installations. The elegant, concealed cable management and connection panel ensure a tidy and clean appearance on stage or in any other application. Equipped with M10 flying points and accessories such as the SMX 12 UB bracket, the SMX 12 can be used in applications where the loudspeaker needs to be mounted on a wall, ceiling, truss or speaker stand. The optional padded cover SMX 12TC protects the monitor during transport and storage.
